FIU-Jersey is committed to up-skilling and training our staff to ensure we invest in our people and continually develop knowledge and learn from best practices. As we create firm foundations to build the new FIU, we seek insightful and collaborative allies.

We are delighted to announce that FIU-Jersey is working alongside and undertaking training with ManchesterCF Financial Intelligence for our entire cohort of FIU staff. We believe this continues to show how we will build mutually relevant partnerships and engage with the best allies.

Our journey with ManchesterCF started when we joined the Royal Foundation’s United for Wildlife international illicit finance partnership seeking to tackle illegal wildlife trafficking. Earlier this year, we were one of the first FIUs to join this partnership, and we were delighted when ManchesterCF offered us free training to upskill in this financial crime area. Their generosity and professional standards demonstrated a real intent to help, share and drive change, not profit – values that the FIU also holds.

ManchesterCF has continued to work with us to provide support and advice on what works best for Jersey. From the suite of training programs offered through their dedicated platform, FIU Connect, industry professionals employed at financial institutions, financial intelligence units and law enforcement agencies around the world have earned the Financial Intelligence Specialist (FIS) qualification.

FIU Director Jonathan Groom commented:

“As part of our commitment to invest in the FIU and its staff and provide a structured career framework, we are ensuring we train and partner with the best professional providers to support understanding and grow capabilities. The supportive approach of ManchesterCF and the ability to obtain a recognised global #qualification whilst tailoring subject choice means we gain consistency and high standards but not repetition.
This partnership forms part of our vision and strategic priorities to support the island’s position as a leading IFC by playing a principal role in the prevention and detection of financial crime. To help achieve this, we have chosen to invest in our people, and we will continue to work with a cohort of like-minded professionals to drive value and capabilities."

Thank you ManchesterCF.
