Professional analysis training company Atlas Analytics has recently been providing financial crime intelligence analysis training to members of the FIU team over the past few weeks. Alongside with members from the Jersey Cyber Security Centre (JCSC) and the Financial Sanctions Implementation Unit (FSIU), the teams received training from Atlas's expert trainers over the course of multiple days, which consisting of:

  • Identifying and mitigating cognitive bias,
  • The intelligence cycle,
  • The principles of intelligence,
  • Strategic, operational and tactical intelligence,
  • Intelligence collection planning and assessments.

Part of the training sessions saw the teams undertake practical sessions on using the Key Assumptions Check (KAC) and Analysis of Competing Hypotheses (ACH) based on financial crime scenarios. This ensured plenty of discussion and debate on the threat landscape for Jersey. The FIU's transformational journey will see our investment in new technologies and sophisticated platforms further enhance our capabilities in the fight against Financial Crime.

FIU Director Jonathan Groom MBA, commented:
